What you will study
- Course overview and aims
- The aim of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the object-oriented design and programming techniques. Java, a prime object-oriented programming language, is used to illustrate this programming paradigm.
- Keyword syllabus
- Object-oriented principles and design Objects and classes; information hiding; encapsulation; data abstraction; inheritance and polymorphism; unified modeling language (UML) and diagrams. Overview of the Object-Oriented Programming Language (Java as the illustrative language) Basic syntax; Classes, interfaces, and methods; Fundamental data types and wrapper classes; Mutable and immutable objects; String and related classes; Class design; Generic classes and methods; Basic I/O processing; Exception handling; Java coding conventions and guidelines. Software design using Object-Oriented Programming Language (Java as the illustrative language) Sorting and searching; Classes and Interfaces that support commonly used data structures such as list, stack, queue, tree, map, and hash table. Applications of the Data Collection Framework in conventional imperative programming paradigm. Functional/declarative programming paradigm for data processing applications; Lambda expression; Stream API; Stream data pipeline. Multi-thread software design; Thread life cycle; Thread safety and management; Thread-safe class design; Data sharing, synchronization and mutual exclusion; Re-entrance lock and condition objects; Parallel processing.
