Prepare your notice and personal details

This page covers University enrolment: activate your account and submit details online, then attend your assigned session for document verification and student-card collection. Your EID is the login name for University systems; your Student No. is an eight-digit number. Keep them separately.

Accept your offer and pay the acceptance fee required by it first. Find the personal fields below; another student’s programme code or appointment cannot replace your own.

Keep these beside you before starting
RouteWhere to find the details and what to prepare
Direct applicantsFind the Enrolment Notification email. Save your eight-digit Student No., Programme Code, enrolment date, time and venue.
JUPAS applicantsObtain enrolment arrangements during offer acceptance. Have your JUPAS application number, offered programme code, HKID number and date of birth ready. Use the dedicated JUPAS entry below.
Both routesPrepare your telephone and country/area codes, correspondence address and primary emergency contact’s name, relationship and telephone. Non-local students also need an overseas address and insurance decision. Prepare a compliant JPEG photo.

Activate EID and save your login name

Direct entrants use “Start online pre-enrolment”; JUPAS entrants use the dedicated offer-acceptance/pre-enrolment link. If your intake is not open or has closed, check the opening period in your notice. Do not switch application routes to work around it.

The shared system may display eight steps. Identity-document upload is marked for Master’s students only; the undergraduate guidance lists seven tasks. Activate the account first, then continue with declarations and personal details.

  1. Use your own application route

Direct: select Continue on the welcome page and enter the eight-digit Student No. from your notification. JUPAS: use the dedicated entry with your JUPAS application number and offered programme details.

  2. Verify your identity

Enter HKID, Programme Code and date of birth. The Direct demonstration uses dd/mm/yyyy, for example 02/09/2008. Leave HKID blank if you have no Hong Kong identity card; do not substitute a Mainland ID number. Copy your programme code from your notice.

  3. Set your password and security question

The current demonstration requires 8–16 characters, including at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter and one digit; passwords are case-sensitive. Enter the same password twice. Select a security question or write one of at least five characters, and supply an answer of at least five characters. Set and keep these yourself.

  4. Save the assigned EID and continue

Record the EID shown by the system. Use it with your new password for AIMS. Continue once the system moves to the declaration stage. If it shows an error, use the troubleshooting section below.

Confirm declarations and contact details

Read the undergraduate enrolment declaration yourself and accept it only after understanding and agreeing. Ask ARRO about any unclear commitment before acceptance. Direct-marketing consent is a separate choice: you may agree or disagree, and later change it in AIMS under Personal Information.

Save each edited block with Done, then review the full page and select Confirm. Typing into a field does not by itself save and confirm it.

What to enter in the contact fields
FieldEntry and completion check
Primary Contact PhoneUse a reachable number. Put country/region code, area code and telephone number in the corresponding fields: 852 for Hong Kong, 86 for Mainland China.
Student International AddressMandatory for non-local students. Enter the overseas street/address, city, postal code and country/region in their fields; a Hong Kong residence address alone is insufficient.
Emergency Contact — PrimaryEnter surname, given name, relationship and reachable telephone number. Check the country code and let the person know they are your emergency contact.
Other contact fieldsAdd secondary telephone, SMS number, email and secondary emergency contact where applicable. Fields explicitly marked optional may be left blank.
Final reviewCheck spelling, telephone and address, then Confirm to continue. The insurance declaration applies to non-local students; see the next section.

Non-local entrants: decide before declaring

The declaration offers Basic, Top-Up, and non-participation with self-arranged insurance. Non-local students must maintain adequate cover throughout study in Hong Kong, including travel, accident, medical expenses, hospitalisation and emergency evacuation/repatriation. A self-arranged policy must be valid in Hong Kong for the whole period and cover these needs.

Mainland entrants need an additional check. The general admissions insurance page describes self-arranged cover, but the current undergraduate demonstration separately states that Chinese Mainland students must join the University plan. Do not infer an exemption from the general page. If your declaration requires participation, choose Basic or Top-Up. If you have existing cover and seek an exemption, ask uciadmin@cityu.edu.hk before submitting: identify yourself as a Mainland undergraduate entrant with Hong Kong-valid insurance and ask whether University-plan participation remains compulsory and whether non-participation is permitted.

Basic provides limited accident and medical benefits; ordinary general-practitioner visits are outside its general cover. The currently linked schedule lists room and board at HK$750 per day, up to 90 days per disability, and hospital services at HK$14,000 per disability. Top-Up adds specified outpatient benefits, not unrestricted free consultations: specialist consultations/medicines including physiotherapy/chiropractic treatment, 10 visits a year at HK$600 per day/visit; diagnostic X-rays/laboratory tests, HK$2,000 per disability; vaccination, one visit a year at HK$200; chemotherapy/radiotherapy/renal dialysis, HK$15,000 per disability. Specialist/treatment and diagnostic benefits require a physician’s written referral, valid for six months.

  1. Decide, then submit

Confirm your participation rule, benefits and premium. Obtain confirmation of any exemption before selecting self-arranged cover. Select your choice, read the declaration and confirm only if you agree. Check the package name in the confirmation dialog. The system treats this as your final decision and does not accept later enrolment or withdrawal.

  2. Pay and check when cover starts

The premium is charged to your student account. When notified, check the amount and due date in your AIMS eStatement and pay in full. Cover requires both University enrolment and full payment; the published start date alone does not establish your cover. Cover any earlier arrival gap through your own insurance.

Submit your photo and health questionnaire

Use a recent colour front-facing photo with a plain light background and unobstructed features, without reflections or shadows. Supply a JPEG of no more than 2 MB, 38 mm wide × 40 mm high, cropped to at least 450 pixels wide × 475 pixels high.

For Semester A2026/27 newcomers, the official orientation timeline’s GHQ window was13 July–21 September2026 and has ended. If incomplete or the link is closed, contact ARRO3442 2300 / as@cityu.edu.hk with your student number and unfinished task to obtain the applicable completion route. Later cohorts must use their own notified window; these are not2027 dates.

JUPAS entrants should finish the other pre-enrolment tasks, allow 48 hours for database updates, then log in to AIMS for photo upload. This wait concerns the JUPAS photo process; identity-verification errors need the specific remedies below.

Where to goAIMS: EID + passwordServices for New StudentPhoto Upload for Student ID Card
  1. Choose, upload and crop

Select Choose file, pick your photo, then Upload. Adjust the cropping frame and check that your face is complete, upright and clear. Use Upload Photo Again if needed.

  2. Submit and check the result

Select Submit after approving the preview. Look for the successful-upload message; a preview alone is not submission. You may replace the photo before on-campus enrolment, but not through this function afterwards. Bring the electronic photo file to the session.

  3. Complete General Health Questionnaire

When the questionnaire for your intake is open, enter General Health Questionnaire, complete it accurately and confirm receipt. The published Semester A 2026/27 window ended on 21 September. If unfinished, now contact ARRO at 3442 2300 / as@cityu.edu.hk with Student No., intake and outstanding task. Use the supplementary arrangement they confirm rather than repeatedly opening a closed old link.

Attend with originals and collect your card

Attend at your assigned date, time and venue. The ARRO Service Centre is not the enrolment venue for every student. Prepare applicable originals below and extra items explicitly listed in your notice. EID activation and successful photo upload do not replace attendance.

Staff verify your identity and documents, complete enrolment and issue the student card. The official orientation page says the card is collected on the spot and the process takes about 25 minutes; this is not a guarantee including queueing time. Check your name and Student No. on the card before leaving and report any error immediately.

Bring to your enrolment session
WhoDocuments and records
All undergraduate entrantsKeep your personal enrolment notification / JUPAS appointment available. Bring the identity originals and additional items listed there, plus your electronic photo file.
Hong Kong right of abode / right to landOriginal Hong Kong identity card. If your status requires another document, obtain ARRO confirmation first; an offer letter is not an assumed replacement for identity evidence.
Non-local students without right of abode / right to landAppropriate original travel document, such as EEP/passport or an applicable Document of Identity; a valid visa/entry permit allowing your study; latest landing slip. Dependant-visa holders must state its first issue date. Expired and visitor visas are not accepted.
Under 18 on enrolment dayParental Consent Form completed and signed by a parent/guardian, submitted on site. Download it directly below.

After collecting the card, check email and timetable access

Use your EID to open CityUHK Portal and check that your University mailbox works. Academic arrangements and notices are sent to University email, so check it regularly. Keep your personal mailbox available for outstanding admission correspondence.

On the published timetable/course-registration release date, open Portal → Student → Useful Services → Student Schedule. University enrolment and course registration are separate checks. If no timetable appears on the scheduled date, call ARRO on 3442 2300 with your student number, programme and the displayed page. A student card does not confirm that all courses are registered.

Invalid Student No. / Application No.Check your application route and number. For a correct number that still fails, ask undergraduate ADMO to check the record: local, +852 3442 7640 / ugadm.local@cityu.edu.hk; non-local, +852 3442 9368 / ugadm.intl@cityu.edu.hk; Mainland Gaokao, same number / mainland@cityu.edu.hk.
Failure attemptMatch HKID, programme code and birth date against the application record. Check case and day/month order. If correct entries still fail, ask ADMO above to correct the record.
Too Many AttemptsMore than 10 failed attempts trigger a lock. The official FAQ says the counter clears within 20 minutes. Wait and retry; contact IT Service Desk if it persists.
Student record not yet sentThe new record has not synchronised. The FAQ gives around one day for a new record and two to three days after JUPAS acceptance. Try the following day as prompted; ask IT Service Desk if the delay persists beyond this.

Common questions

Open to read
Can another person attend enrolment for me?

This arrangement is only for Hong Kong permanent identity-card holders. Download the Authorisation Letter in section six. Enter the date, your full name/HKID and your representative’s name/HKID or passport number, sign it yourself and attach a copy of your HKID. Your representative brings their original HKID/passport, the signed letter, your HKID copy and the other items in your enrolment notice to your assigned session, and may sign for collection of your student card. Non-local entrants should attend themselves.

Why are more steps needed after EID activation?

Activation only creates the account. Continue with the enrolment declaration, contact data, data-use choice, applicable insurance declaration, photo and health questionnaire. Then attend with originals and collect a card with your correct name and Student No.

What if I do not receive a card or its details are wrong?

Ask the enrolment counter before leaving to identify the missing requirement, next action and whether another visit is needed. Being able to log in does not mean you have collected your card. After leaving, contact ARRO at +852 3442 2300 / as@cityu.edu.hk with your session details and the problem.
