Check the facility and your access

CityUHK full-time and part-time students are generally eligible; SCOPE students must use their separate arrangements. Fitness-room access has additional requirements, so a successful system login does not establish permission for every facility.

The Hu Fa Kuang Sports Centre entrance is near the BOC health clinic. Its free indoor jogging track for eligible users is at B1/F, 118 m long and connected to a 1.5 km hillside trail. Practice Gymnasiums 1 and 2 are at G/F; 3 and 4 at 6/F. The current entry notice says the B1/B2 escalators run upwards only: descend from the lobby via Staircase 13, or ask the counter for an accessible route.

Obtain fitness eligibility before booking

Physical Fitness appearing as an available facility in SFBI indicates recorded eligibility. Training/document approval normally takes 3–7 working days to update and remains valid until graduation/leaving. Hall access normally needs another 2–3 working days to synchronise and is for residents of that compound.

  1. Full-time, no relevant experience

Register for a one-hour PED1305 Physical Fitness – Elementary practical in AIMS during add/drop. Complete the Canvas course and pass the assessment (16 or above), print the result with name/score and present it at the registered practical. If normal add/drop has ended, ask PE about the next course.

  2. Part-time, no relevant experience

Enrol in Physical Fitness Room User Training Workshop and attend the complete two-hour theory/practical. Ask sope@cityu.edu.hk / 3442 8025 for the current registration session; the full-time PED1305 route does not automatically apply.

  3. Experienced applicants

Bring University ID plus original/printed evidence to PE: a gym/college letter with header/address, qualification in safe equipment use, official’s title/signature/date/chop, plus its website screenshot; alternatively the LCSD equipment-briefing certificate or military-service certificate. Complete the application after document checking.

  4. Check eligibility and book

After 3–7 working days, check Physical Fitness in SFBI. If absent, take training/approval details to PE, 6/F Hu Fa Kuang Sports Centre, Jockey Club One Health Tower; 3442 8025.

Swimming: location, tickets and this month’s usable hours

The pool is beside the BOC health-centre area; use the campus pool entrance and service counter, telephone 3442 8058. From 1 August 2026 the normal hours are Tue–Sun 08:00–21:00, closed Mon/public holidays. Team training, classes and events can reserve lanes or close the entire pool, so the closing hour alone is insufficient to plan a visit.

Examples from the October 2026 chart, updated 6 October: classes partially reserve the pool on 17 October 09:00–12:00; the entire pool is closed on 18 October and Monday 19 October. On 20 October 08:00–19:00 it is marked normally open; lanes 7–8 are reserved for team training from 19:00–21:00, with remaining lanes subject to staff directions. This is October’s schedule, not November’s. Call the pool counter for temporary lifeguard/weather changes.

GuestHK$30 guest ticket + HK$12 admission = HK$42 per entry; accompanied by an eligible host throughout.
Student guest-ticket allowanceFull-/part-time students: at most three per day, purchased at the Swimming Pool Service Counter.
  1. Bring ID and swimming items

Bring valid student ID, swimwear, towel and personal items. At the pool counter verify eligibility and buy your entry ticket; an eligible host arranges guest and admission tickets for companions.

  2. Use the available lanes

Check the day’s class/training reservations and follow lifeguard directions. An entry ticket does not reserve a lane, and court-booking steps in SFBI are not the pool ticket procedure.

  3. Resolve problems before paying

Ask the counter to clarify closure, lane availability, ticket eligibility or charges, and retain the ticket/payment record. Alert a lifeguard immediately in an emergency.

Pay and obtain the SFBI confirmation

Enter SFBI from the official page and sign in with EID through SSO. Standard advance booking covers up to seven days and one session per facility per day; check the system and FAQ for same-day exceptions.

Pay immediately through CityUHK Pay. A payment message alone is insufficient: obtain the SFBI paid-booking confirmation and check the date, facility and time in My Booking.

  2. Pay within 15 minutes

Finish CityUHK Pay within 15 minutes after Pay or the slot is released. Cards, FPS, Alipay, WeChat Pay and PayMe are among published methods; use available checkout options.

  3. Confirm the reservation

Keep both payment notification and SFBI paid-booking confirmation. Verify matching facility/date/time in My Booking. SFBI confirmation establishes the reservation; a debit alone does not.

Release or cancel a session you cannot attend

Early Release requires at least two calendar days with no public holiday in between. Rebook an available session within 21 days or forfeit it and the fee. Check the controls shown for your booking.

Late cancellation and no-show forfeit the fee. Three combined instances within 30 calendar days suspend online booking privileges for 14 days.

  1. Early release

My Booking → confirmed record → Early Release, at least two calendar days ahead with no intervening public holiday.

  2. Rebook the released session

My Booking → released record → Alter Booking; choose another available slot within 21 days or lose the booking/fee.

  3. After the release period

Use Late Cancellation on the record; the fee is forfeited. Three late cancellations/no-shows within 30 calendar days suspend online bookings for 14 days; ask a counter in person about available sessions.

Check in with your ID; report payment issues

Bring your CityUHK student ID and check in for the session. Failure to attend/check in within 15 minutes can be recorded as a no-show and release the facility to walk-in users.

If charged without confirmation, retain the payment and booking details and contact the PE Section: 3442 8025, sope@cityu.edu.hk.

Online booking normally runs 08:00–23:59 daily, to 22:59 Wednesday, closed public holidays. Counters: Sports Centre G/F entrance 09:00–22:00; fitness 7/F 08:00–22:00, Mon–Sun excluding public holidays. For a payment error send transaction reference, amount/time, facility/slot and SFBI status. PE may arrange a same-facility replacement after verification, to be used within 21 days. Enquiries Mon–Fri 08:45–12:45 and 14:00–17:30: 3442 8025 / sope@cityu.edu.hk.

Venue verification requires valid CityUHK ID/CityUHK QR code and an additional photo ID. A payment screenshot alone is insufficient. For guests at eligible sports facilities, on the day go to SFBI → My Guest Ticket → Purchase Guest Ticket, enter details, pay HK$30 per ticket and retrieve the dynamic QR code from email. The eligible host must accompany guests throughout; guests cannot use the fitness room. The charges page lists a student limit of three per day; the system must also confirm the available allowance.

Residence gyms and the Joint Sports Centre

Residence gyms are limited to residents of that compound who have PE-approved fitness eligibility. Their entry arrangements differ from booking the campus 7/F fitness room; an old physical fitness card or residence in the other compound does not by itself authorize entry.

MOS Sports Hall: prices and sport allocation

Find the Indoor Sports Hall signs in the communal facilities area of the residence village at 2 Choi Sha Street. SRO ended the free trial on 25 August 2025 and introduced the tariff below on 26 August. These are residence prices, separate from campus sports-centre prices. Open Tue–Sun 10:00–22:00 including public holidays; closed Monday.

From 21 April 2026, sports use the allocation below; every sport is not bookable at every time. Two sports in a period indicate separate areas or segments: check the court and bookable session at reservation. The notice suspends futsal pending protective equipment for speakers; do not assume football use is permitted.

Still incomplete: MOS booking channel, advance window, duration, payment/cancellation/no-show rules, pickleball price and current residence-gym charges. The 2025 temporary free arrangement does not establish that use is free today.

Common questions

Open to read
Does a payment receipt confirm a session?

You also need the SFBI paid-booking confirmation and a matching My Booking entry. Keep the records and contact the PE Section if you only have a payment receipt.

Does the old free trial still apply?

Do not rely on an expired trial notice. Use the current SFBI charge, facility page and announcements.
