Open your own e-statement

In AIMS, open Student Record → My Finance for the e-statement, Account Summary and due date. Identify tuition, residence, insurance and other items, and record your student number, balance and deadline.

Charges can depend on cohort, status, programme or credits. Use your own statement; later charges or a second statement may follow a previously settled balance.

For undergraduate bill checks: standard 2026/27 annual tuition for eligible local students is HK$47,000. For 2026 entrants who are non-local or ineligible for government-subsidised tuition, most programmes cost HK$190,000 per year and BVM HK$392,000. Most-programme rates for the2025 and2024 cohorts are HK$170,000 and HK$160,000. These are annual reference rates, not this instalment’s amount. Check scholarships, acceptance fees already paid, instalments, credit-based charges and hall fees against your own e-statement.

Choose a method from the University’s page

CityUHK Pay lists FPS, Hong Kong/Mainland Alipay and WeChat wallets, PayMe, UnionPay and Flywire/Convera. Use an available method through the student-account route and check provider transaction limits.

For a parent or sponsor, use CityUHK Pay’s payment-request/QR function rather than sharing your AIMS password. Check exchange rates, charges and settlement timing before paying.

  1. Check your statement

Record Student No., balance, charge items and Due Date in AIMS. Open this page’s CityUHK Pay student-account link and sign in with your university identity.

  2. Choose the method and amount

Check name and account, then select FPS, a wallet, UnionPay or cross-border channel offered by the portal. Confirm currency, exchange rate, fees and limits. For a parent/sponsor, generate the Payment Request with QR code.

  3. Save and reconcile

Verify the amount and university payee before paying. Keep the successful result, time/date, currency, amount and order/transaction reference. Return to AIMS and check the relevant charge and balance.

For bank payment, use Bill Payment

For participating e-banking/ATM methods, use Bill Payment/JET PAYMENT. Ordinary ATM bank-account transfer does not record the student number needed to identify payment.

For PPS, use merchant9164, your Student No. as Bill Account No., and Bill Type01. The official cut-off is before19:00 Monday–Friday; arrange payment at least one working day before the due date. Flywire/Convera payments through CityUHK Pay normally take a few days to reach the university. A direct remittance to a university bank account selected in a Mainland banking app may not identify your student number; use the portal’s UnionPay transfer option instead.

Use the right route for credit cards or government-loan cheques

A Hong Kong bank account is not a prerequisite for fee payment. Use UnionPay on CityUHK Pay, or an eligible card linked to a supported wallet. Non-local credit cards can use Flywire/Convera on the portal in home currency; local credit cards can use the issuer’s Bill Payment service. Check the actual quote, fees and card/wallet eligibility and limits.

For a government non-means-tested-loan cheque, print the AIMS e-statement and deliver both in person or by courier to Finance Office, Room 4600, 4/F, Li Dak Sum Yip Yio Chin Academic Building, City University of Hong Kong, Tat Chee Avenue, Kowloon, Hong Kong (Attention: Receipts Team). Cross the cheque, make it payable to City University of Hong Kong, and write your name/student number on the back. Retain delivery proof and check posting in AIMS.

Confirm settlement and resolve discrepancies

Retain proof and check the AIMS balance. UnionPay/wallet payments through CityUHK Pay are described as instant updates; international networks depend on receipt of funds.

For a missing update, discrepancy or deadline issue, contact Student Fees at 3442 6337 / fostdfee@cityu.edu.hk with the statement and transaction reference. Overdue balances can attract 2% and affect enrolment. Deferral needs the applicable eligibility and approval.

For a debit without account credit, check whether the transaction is Successful rather than Pending/Failed, then verify Student No., payment method and expected receipt time. Do not immediately pay twice. Give the fees team your Student No., charge/amount, original deadline, payment time, method, transaction reference, debit/success screenshots and current AIMS balance, asking them to match the receipt. If confirmed bank charges caused a shortfall, settle that difference. Completion means the charge is settled; separately save monthly AIMS e-receipts.

  1. Match the same charge and transaction

Check the charge and balance in AIMS, then whether payment is Successful, Pending or Failed. Record channel, time, currency, amount and reference; cross-border payment submission differs from university receipt.

  2. Send complete evidence for an uncredited payment

Send Student No., charge/amount/due date, payment channel/time/reference, success page and current balance to fostdfee@cityu.edu.hk. Call 3442 6337 near a deadline. Ask Finance to match the payment and confirm any remaining amount before duplicating it.

  3. Confirm settlement and retain the receipt

After the reply, check the relevant AIMS charge is settled and pay only a confirmed shortfall. Keep the statement, transaction proof, correspondence and subsequently issued electronic receipt.

If you need a deferral, apply and obtain approval

The published undergraduate deferral route is for full-time UGC-funded local undergraduates who applied for government financial assistance and genuinely cannot pay on time. In AIMS select Student Record → My Finance → Deferral of Tuition Payment, complete the requested assistance details/evidence, save the submission and check the decision and revised deadline. Other categories, or pending decisions near the deadline, should contact3442 6337 / fostdfee@cityu.edu.hk with the charge, Due Date and difficulty to request an individual arrangement. Applying does not itself extend the deadline.

Common questions

Open to read
Can an ordinary bank transfer replace bill payment?

Do not substitute it. Use a published method that identifies the student number; ordinary ATM transfer is excluded. Enter cross-border payment through the University’s specified route.

Can I discard proof once the balance is zero?

Keep the transaction reference, statement and receipt. FO posts e-receipts monthly in AIMS, available for 24 months, and recommends saving them.
